“C&G Builders built us our dream home! We had a big job - a complete gut renovation of a 2,800 sq ft 4 bedroom house including a finished basement. We wanted to replace everything including the electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and even build a new Trex deck. I bid out the job to 4 contractors and after a very tough decision we went with C&G Builders. Looking back it was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
Carlos and his team are fabulous. Here are some key points I want to share about them:
Communication: Carlos and I texted and talked almost every day. We were not living onsite so he would send me pictures/videos of the progress when I couldn’t visit and kept me updated on what was scheduled each week. He always returned my calls promptly and answered all my questions.
Quality: C&G builds it right. I monitored the materials used and the work being done closely, there were zero shortcuts taken. In fact, Carlos is a bit of a perfectionist... sometimes he would go home and review photos of the progress that day, catch something that looked fine to me, but not to him, and the next day would update it to his standard.
Reliability: Carlos and his crew always showed up when they were supposed to. In fact, Carlos was early to our first meeting together. Over time I learned that I could not just rely on him, but trust him like he was a family member. Often times I would be stressed about something with the project and he would calm my nerves and have it taken care of. It made the whole build as stress-free as possible.
Project Management: We started demolition on February 24, 2020. Soon after, the world changed. Carlos managed the build through the pandemic flawlessly. He followed the NJ COVID construction guidelines and navigated the ensuing material shortages which came from factory shutdowns. He kept the build moving and on schedule. A tremendous accomplishment considering the circumstances.
Sub pool: The sub-contractors used were excellent. I got to know each one as they spent a lot of time on the project. They are masters of their trade and reliable. They are also all good down to earth people.
Going the extra mile: Carlos is a skilled carpenter and that came in handy quite a few times. We added a built-in desk mid-build, he built it himself. A closet system that can cost top dollar? He included it in the scope and built it himself. A custom understairs wine rack I saw on Pinterest? He saw a photo I showed him and built it. And the trim?! I was a true novice going into this project, but trim can be the difference-maker in a house that takes it to the next level. What C&G did with the trim and wainscoting was truly breathtaking. From the fireplace treatment to the window trim to the bead-board cathedral ceiling entrance... I didn’t even think to include these types of details into the scope, no matter, Carlos was prideful enough to know he had to make it right. And he did just that. Everyone who visits is just blown away.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that we are forever grateful for having chosen C&G Builders for our big project. I cannot recommend them enough. Carlos is no longer just a contractor to us, he is a dear friend.”
